What’s up everyone and welcome to your next Geek Tripp. I keep hearing and reading from people that the MOGA Pocket controller does not work with Samsung’s Gear VR. I’m here to tell you once and for all that it most certainly does. It requires a 3rd party app, but that’s all. I tried this on Dreadhalls, the extremely scary Gear VR horror game. The default settings on the MOGA pocket worked flawlessly.
Setting up your MOGA Pocket to work with Gear VR:
- For starters, you’re going to need an app called the: MOGA Universal Driver.
- Next, you’re going to open it and attach your controller via bluetooth.
- You need to then go through every single menu in the MOGA Universal Driver app (I kept the default remapping settings). You’ll know it’s working when there’s a green controller in your notification area at the top.
- Now stick your phone into your Gear VR.
NOTE: It will disconnect the controller but don’t worry. When you go into the game, after a few seconds, the controller should re-connect.
Now you should be good to go.
Disclaimer: I only tried this on the Dreadhalls game in Gear VR, but I have no idea why it wouldn’t work on others.
